Facilities Work Order - FAQ's (NCC)

Question

I have other questions about Facilities Work Orders. Where can I find answers?

Answer

Here are some frequently asked questions regarding Facilities Work Orders:

Why would a Building Maintenance representative come into my room when I did not submit a Maintenance Work Request?

Most generally this was a Preventative Maintenance inspection. You are notified through your Resident Director/Assistant/Coordinator before this type of inspection. The Building Maintenance representative will leave a green card explaining what work was completed and by whom.

How long will it take to complete my Maintenance Work Request?

This depends on the maintenance backlog list and the criticality of the request. Normally 1 to 3 days.

How long will I have to wait to have my lock changed or key(s) made?

This depends on the maintenance backlog list and the criticality of the request. Emergencies are normally done the same day.  Key requests are typically filled within 3 days.

Why can't you do my Maintenance Work Request "right away" when it will only take 5 minutes?

We receive many requests like this every day. To maintain control of the workload, all Maintenance Work Requests must be prioritized and scheduled.

Does Facilities Management have a yearly budget line for renovation projects?

No. All renovation projects are funded through the Minor Capital Outlay Program (projects greater than $25,000) or the requestor's own budget (projects under $25,000). These projects are coordinated through the requestor's PAR process and area Vice President.
