Manager's Guide to Sierra Connect

You're a manager of a department that is using Sierra Connect and it is your responsibility to request the addition and removal of Sierra Connect roles for your staff and student workers. 

Add and Remove Staff and Student Worker Sierra Connect Roles

A Sierra Connect Role Access Form must be submitted for staff and student workers if their job requires a role in Sierra Connect, and again when they leave your department or their job no longer requires the role.

Information to gather before giving a role to a staff or student worker:

  • Name and ID number of the person getting the role.
    • The form will automatically put your name, so you need to input the person who you want to get the role
    • Put the person you want to get the role

 

  • The position or title of the person getting access
  • The name of the role you want assigned to this person. Reach out to the Sierra Connect team if you do not know what role your employee needs. Email (sierraconnect@sierracollege.edu)
  • Any department or role Sierra Connect calendars the person will need access to. For example, All Counselors, SAS Counselors, Support Specialists...

Information to gather for removing a role when a person leaves or job no longer requires a role:

  • Name and ID number of the person who we're removing the role from. Remember to replace your name with theirs! 
  • Classification of hire. Classified, Temp, or Student
  • The position or title of the person
  • The name of the role you want removed from this person
  • Any department or roles calendars who the person has access to that need to be removed. For example, All Counselors, SAS Counselors, Support Specialists...

What Do Roles Have Access To?

Every role in Sierra Connect has access to student information, messages, meeting outcomes, and tracking items.

The student profile is comprised of the following elements

  • Student photo
  • Student ID
  • Student school email
  • Student personal phone number
  • Student personal cellular number

  • Completed comprehensive Educational Plan, formerly a MAP (only shows if yes)
  • Receiving Financial Aid (only shows if yes)
  • Placement via Calpass (only shows if date)
  • English Placement
  • Hight Math Placement
  • FAFSA Submission Status Current Academic Year F,S,SU
  • Enrolled Units (next term if in-between terms)
  • Enrolled Units Previous Term
  • Total Degree Applicable Earned Units
  • Degree Completion Percentage
  • Ed Plan Max Planned Term ABR or CMP DATE
  • No Future Term Ed Plan (only shows if yes)
  • Career Continuum Confirmation (only shows if yes)
  • Total Elective Credits to Date Including Current Term Enrollments (only shows if credit)
  • Primary Counselor (Name)
  • Primary Location (R,NCC,TT,)

Info Page

  • Admissions (Transfer, First Term, High School GPA)
  • Placement Scores
  • Demographics (DOB, Pell Eligible, First Gen Student, Gender, Race/Ethnicity
  • Programs (major changes)
  • Term Status of Each Term (Enrollment Status, CUM Gpa, Credit Hours, Living on Campus, Academic Standing, Class Level, Credits Attempted in Term)

  • Course Name
  • Instructor
  • Schedule days and time
  • Last access in Canvas (and dates of automated “Not Logged Into Canvas” flag)

  • Instructors (Name, Picture, phone, email)
  • Counselors (Interest Area, Special Pop, Transition - Name, Picture, phone, email)
  • Support Specialist (Name, Picture, phone, email)
  • SST for Special Pop (Name, Picture, phone, email)
  • Support Staff for Special Pop (Name, Picture, phone, email)
  • Enrollment Specialist (if a high school student - Name, Picture, phone, email)
  • Financial Aid Outreach Technician (if a high school student - Name, Picture, phone, email)
