Where is my quiz/exam timer?

Depending on the size of your screen, the timer may be on the side (wide) or at the bottom (narrow) of the browser window. 

You can make the timer move/appear/disappear by resizing your browser window. Often times, students miss these tools by not having their browser window completely expanded. With the Canvas timer, you can make it move to the bottom of your window if there isn’t enough room for it on the side. If this is what you experienced, you would need to scroll all the way down to see the timer.

If you are using a tablet or smaller sized screen, the same can occur as the browser window not being open completely. Try changing to landscape view or reducing the Zoom on the mobile browser you are using.

Still can't see your timer? Here are some troubleshooting tips:

• Are you using a compatible browser? Here are the supported browsers.

• Have you enabled Java in your browser? It can be necessary for the Canvas timer.

• Is the quiz/exam timed? Not all are timed, it is up to the instructor to set those parameters.
