How Do I Retrieve an Email Header When Reporting Email Threats?

Question

How do I retrieve the "email header" to report an emailed threat or issue in Outlook Client or Office 365?

Answer Using Outlook Client (application installed on your computer)

1. Open the message

2. Select the File Menu.

3. Click on the Properties button. 

4. Highlight all of the information in the Internet Headers box. Then, copy and paste into a new email message to the ITS Security Specialist (servicedesk@sierracollege.edu).

Answer Using Outlook Office 365

1. Click on the More actions (the three dots) to open the Menu near the Reply options.

 

2. Select View in the Menu and click on View message details

 

 

3. Highlight all of the information in the Message details. Then, copy and paste the Message Details into an email to the ITS Security Specialist (servicedesk@sierracollege.edu).
