Multi-task with pop-out windows

Important for multitasking! Use the pop-out icon to open your chat, file, etc. in a new Teams window in case you need to navigate to another item in Teams without losing your place.

Run quick polls and surveys

Collect feedback in seconds using Forms in Teams. Click the Forms icon under the message box, type your question and answer choices, toggle Multiple answers if needed, choose whether to share results or keep responses anonymous, then click Send.

Record Video

Microsoft Teams allows users to record quick video clips to share with colleagues, making communication more engaging and efficient.

Open the Video Clip Recorder

Within the message box, look for the Video Clip icon (usually a small camera symbol). Click on it to open the video clip recorder. If you don’t see the icon, click the three dots (More options) to find it.

Record Your Video Clip

Click the Record button to start recording your video clip. Speak clearly and keep your message concise. When finished, click Stop.

Review and Send

After recording, you can preview your video clip. If you’re satisfied, click Send to share it in the chat or channel. If you want to redo it, select Re-record.

Switch Devices During Microsoft Teams Meetings

If you need to change from your computer to your phone (or the other way around) during a Teams meeting, you can easily do so. Here’s a simple guide to help you switch devices without leaving your meeting.

Step 1: Join the Meeting on Your Second Device

  • Open the Teams app on your second device and sign in with your account.

  • Find your ongoing meeting in the Teams calendar or list and tap “Join.”

Step 2: Pick Your Option

Teams will notice you’re already in the meeting and give you two choices:

  • Transfer to this device: Move the meeting to your new device and leave on the old one.

  • Add this device: Join from both devices at the same time (helpful for sharing screens or using chat).

Step 3: Confirm and Set Up

  • If you choose “Transfer to this device,” the meeting will switch over and your first device will leave the meeting.

  • If you choose “Add this device,” Teams will ask if you want your mic and camera on or off before you join, so you can avoid echo or feedback.

Step 4: Keep Meeting

  • Continue your meeting from your new device.

  • You can share your screen, chat, or use other meeting tools as needed.
  • If you joined with both devices, you can use one for video/audio and the other for collaboration.
