Find and Replace

Windows 10

The buttons for both Find and Replace will be under the Home tab.

Home tab in Word  

Find

  • Select the Find You could also use the shortcut Ctrl + F.

  • Type the word that you want to find into the bar under Navigation. The words that match what you type will be highlighted yellow. You can use the arrows to jump from word-to-word.

  • If you click on the drop-down arrow on the Find button, you can use the Advanced Find feature which you can use for more specific searches.

  • Click More > > for more search options.

Replace

  • Select the Replace button

  • More > > will show you more specifications for the word(s) you want to replace. You can cycle through the results with Find Next. Substitute specific words with Replace, and if you want to replace all instances of the word, select Replace All.

Use Find Next to find the next occurrence of the word  

 

 

Mac

Find

  • To find words, type in the word in the top right search bar.

  • The words in your document that match what you search will show up highlighted.

Replace

  • To replace words, click on the small magnifying glass in the search bar.

  • Select Replace

  • Replace singular words or Replace All the results that match what you searched.

You can further narrow your search with the settings button, and the drop-down arrows inside both the find and the replace search bars.
