My Next Steps

The purpose of this document is to outline the student experience for My Next Steps within mySierra, as well as explain each element contained in My Next Steps.

 

My Next Steps in mySierra

The My Next Steps box shows in the top-right corner of mySierra and it has a check icon as seen below. To view your steps, click on the blue text, "My Next Steps".

 

Definitions

  • Agree to College Terms and Conditions
    • Student has an M2 Hold. They need to agree to Terms and Conditions.
  • Complete a Career and Academic Planning (CAP) Session Online and Meet with a Counselor
    • ​​​​​​​Student has an M3 Hold: This is driven by ANY counseling appointment within the last 24 months. New, returning new, transfer in.
  • Register for Classes
    • ​​​​​​​Always shows for new student. Will only show to returning students if the Time Tickets for the semester have been released, and they have not registered for current or future term classes.
  • At this time your registration steps have been completed for your current term. Be sure to check your financial aid status  and/or pay your bill.
    • Shows when a student does not have an M2 or M3 Hold: Has registered for current or future term classes or does not have a Time Ticket for current or future term.

New Students

New Students will likely see three steps, Agree to College Terms and Conditions, Complete a Career and Academic Planning (CAP) Session Online and Meet with a Counselor, as well as Register for Classes.

 

The Visual Experience

Visual Experience for New, Returning New, Transfer students who have not completed any steps. All boxes are unchecked.


 

Visual Experience for New, Returning New, Transfer students who have completed Terms and Conditions but have not attended a (CAP) appointment in the last 24 months. Only the Terms and Conditions boxed is checked.

 

Visual Experience for New, Returning New, Transfer students who completed Terms and Conditions, attended a (CAP) appointment in last 24 months. Both Terms and Conditions, as well as (CAP), show their boxes checked.

 

Returning Students

Returning Students will likely see two steps completed, Agree to College Terms and Condition, as well as Complete a Career and Academic Planning (CAP) Session Online and Meet with a Counselor. They will likely also see either Register for Classes, or the message notification about their steps being completed.

 

The Visual Experience

Visual Experience for Returning students who completed Terms and Conditions and attended a (CAP) appointment in last 24 months, during a time when tickets are open for registration.

 

Visual Experience for Returning students who completed Terms and Conditions and attended a (CAP) appointment in last 24 months, who have also registered for current or future term classes.
