How to connect to a Print Server

Question

How do I connect my printer to a printer server?

Answer

1) To identify your existing print queue(s) – go to your computers Settings (right click on your Windows Start menu then click on Settings)

2) Click on Devices

3) Click on Printers and Scanners

4) Note the name of your print queue(s) – you may have only one default printer configured or many.  In the example below, the print queue name is IIT5 and the print server name is SC239.

5) To set up a printer on the new Print Server click on Search at the bottom of your screen (next to the Start menu) and enter the server name starting with "\\", like this \\PRTSRV-RC-01, then Enter (on your keyboard).

6) Find the print queue and double click on the icon

7) Once the printer is installed, a print queue box will open.

8) Find your new print queue and click on it and then click on Manage.

9) Click on Set as default.

10) Click the back button to return to the Printers and scanners page. To delete the old queue, click on the queue and click on remove device.
